On September 26, 2024, Springflare held a book talk event with Yu Ji Won, the author (and curator) of < Life Art Story>, and editor Seo Sung Jin.
On the evening of Friday, August 30, Spring Flare held a booktalk evvent with Lee Eun Seon, the author of <Cinema at Late Night>. The book consists of writings on 56 films, carefully selected by the author, which were released after the pandemic. During the event, she shared her thoughts on how films have changed post-COVID-19 and engaged in a conversation about these reflections.
Lee Eun Seon recommended <Ed Wood> (1994) and <Green Fish> (1997) as particularly impactful films. We are grateful to all the readers who joined us at Spring Flare at the close of summer.
On August 14, 2024, Springflare held a book talk event with Baek Seung Yeon, the author of < Letter Shop Geulwol>, and editor Cho CP.
First, the author shared about why she chose the real-life space 'Geulwol,' located in Yeonhuidong, which operates a service for exchanging letters with strangers, as the setting for the novel. We also talked about the theme of letters that runs throughout the novel. Through the author, we had the chance to hear about the warmth felt when writing a letter while thinking of someone.
The event, attended by a small group of five, consisted of a middle-aged couple, the translator who will be translating the novel into French, and a woman in her 20s. This created an atmosphere where it felt as though the story of the novel was extending into the event itself. With the novel set to be exported to 13 countries, we hope that the gradually disappearing culture of handwritten letters will continue to thrive in various places.

On Jun 27, Spring Flare hosted a book talk event with Lim Kyung Sun, the author, known for <Visiting Kyoto> and <Tender Salvation>.
The theme of the event was travel, and the author shared insights into the craft of writing travel essays. Recognizing that travel essays can easily become mundane for readers if they merely recount the author's experiences, Lim Kyung Sun discussed her analytical approach and shared her stories.
The author highlighted fearlessness towards adventure and failure as a captivating feature of a compelling travel essay. She emphasized that understanding and facing unfamiliar and uncomfortable aspects of the world and its people can significantly broaden the horizons of travel.
Finally, the author shared various anecdotes related to travel, discussing attitudes towards travel, tips for traveling with children, and ways to travel when money is tight.

On May 16, Spring Flare hosted a book talk event with Ban Ji Soo, the author of <Book Illustration of Ban Ji Soo>. The author introduced books that have inspired her since childhood, such as <Anne of Green Gables> and <The Moon and Sixpence>. She also shared her personal experiences of working on various book illustration despite not having background in art. Through this book talk, we were able to glimpse the author's passion for both 'literature' and 'art'.

For this book talk, Seo Yoon Hoo shared personal stories under the theme of 'Blogs and Diaries', which he had not shared elsewhere. He discussed the benefits of writing diaries on blogs, reasons for writing, diary topics, frequency, method, and the changes diaries bring about.

Spring Flare hosted a book talk event with Park Jung Yeon, the author of <Me, Blue-Collar Woman>, and Like-Us representative Ahn Hyeong Seon, who participated in an interview in the book. The author, through her experiences as a woman working in male-dominated fields in the political arena, became curious about how other women working in male-dominated working place.
Through her book, she shares the vivid stories of ten women who have survived in rough labor environments such as truck driving, construction sites, railway vehicle maintenance, and home repairs.

The author provided a comfortable time by showing vivid photos of foods that readers had only imagined while reading the book.

On August 19th, Spring Flare hosted a Booktalk with the author Lee Hyeon Ah, who wrote <Flesh of Summer>. This book, fitting for a serene summer night, unfolds stories about childhood, summer, and feelings of melancholy and solitude, complemented by vivid illustrations.
Also, participants had the opportunity to learn about the background of various artists such as Balthus, Luchita Hurtado, and Georgia O'Keeffe.

On May 23rd, Spring Flare hosted a book talk with the author Gwak Ah Ram, who wrote <The Comfort of Study>. On January 9, 2019, Spring Flare hosted a book talk event with author Lee Ro, the owner of the independent bookstore Your Mind in Yeonhuidong and author of <I Went to a Certain Tonkatsu Restaurant>. This essay, created in collaboration with illustrator Lee Na Young, primarily revolves around the topic of tonkatsu, as suggested by the title. However, the book is not solely about tonkatsu. It introduces ten tonkatsu restaurants in Japan that the author personally visited, yet it is not a book that simply tempts you with the taste of tonkatsu. In other words, this book showcases an attempt to delve deeply into the subject of tonkatsu.
